10 things to do during the first month of the year in Belfast

January in Belfast has had a chilly start, but there is still plenty of great activities to keep you warm, busy, entertained.

Here are 10 things to do during the first month of the year:

  1. Visit the Titanic Belfast Museum – Learn about the city’s maritime heritage in the iconic building dedicated to the city’s history, maritime past and the Titanic. Enjoy interactive exhibits and immersive experiences, it’s an ideal indoor activity for those chilly days.
  2. Explore the Ulster Museum – Explore the museum’s extensive collections across 5 floors, including natural history, art, and local history exhibits and ancient Ireland. It's a great way to spend a few warm hours indoors. The museum is closed on Mondays (except bank holidays). Please note, Art Gallery 1, 2 & 3 are temporarily closed from Tuesdays to Fridays during January (Art Gallery 2 & 3 open from 10th to 12th January).

  4. Winter Walks at Cave Hill, Divis and Black Mountain– For those who love nature, Cave Hill, Divis and Black Mountain offer lovely, peaceful winter hikes with panoramic views of Belfast. Dress warmly and enjoy the crisp air!

Stroll Through the Botanic Gardens – If you're wrapped up well you could take a walk through this lovely park from the banks of the River Lagan up to Queen’s University, and enjoy the warmth of the Palm House and the Tropical Ravine, where you can experience tropical plants in the winter. The park closes at 4.30pm in January.
