Running 27 marathons for men’s mental health

Ben Gaston, with the support of GreenThumb, is undertaking the extraordinary feat of running 27 marathons to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health.

In a bold move to support the charity this Movember, Ben aims to collect £27,000 by completing marathons in each of the European Union's capital cities.

Recently celebrating his 27th birthday, Ben is taking on this ambitious project as a testament to his resilience and dedication to a cause that resonates deeply with him.

Ben explains, "I've always tried to put on a brave face and be as positive as I can. However, between 2020 and 2023, I encountered significant challenges with my mental and physical health. This is not just about conquering miles, but also about overcoming personal hurdles and inspiring others to do the same."

Beginning in August, Ben has tackled marathons in all 27 EU capital cities, including Athens and Amsterdam. The challenge will conclude with a grueling 100-mile run from Dublin to Belfast on November 29th and 30th.

GreenThumb is thrilled to support Ben's endeavor, providing a dedicated support van stocked with essential gels, snacks, and provisions. The company will also contribute £1,000 to Movember, bolstering Ben's ongoing fundraising efforts.

GreenThumb is inviting generous supporters to aid Ben on his incredible journey, whether by cheering him on along the route, donating to the cause, or spreading the word about the importance of men's health.

Reflecting on his motivations, Ben explains, "The main reason I’m completing this challenge is down to the personal issues I faced with my mental health a few years ago. The men in my life have been a big driving force for what I'm doing, highlighting how important it is to speak up when times get tough. This challenge is my way of showing the role models in my life that I care, while contributing positively to men's health by raising money for Movember."

Ben expresses gratitude towards GreenThumb, saying, "They've been a huge help throughout my journey, assisting with accommodation and food costs while checking in regularly. Their support van will be crucial for the Dublin to Belfast run, ensuring I’m safe throughout the night and make it to the finish line. I can't thank them enough for their generosity and support."

This remarkable challenge is not just about running; it's about making a difference in men's health, and Ben, with GreenThumb's backing, is leading the way.

Donations can be made through Ben's fundraising page, with all proceeds going directly to men's health charities: https://www.justgiving.com/page/eurun
