A Lumi portable recovery pod experience

A Lumi portable recovery pod experience

Lumi Therapy the leader in cold water therapy and fitness recovery, has launched the first UK Portable Recovery Pod Ice Bath, delivering ice cold therapy to your home.

The Lumi therapy Ice Bath is a 'fully-portable' insulated pod, with a skin incorporating 3 layers of thermal insulated TPE protection that keeps the water at a steady temperature. It also includes a UFO Thermo Lid as standard and is designed to add a thermal bridge between the ice bath water and the external elements.

After long-term testing with several consumers who use regular tap water in the Lumi Recovery Pod, the team found out that there’s no need to add ice in the pod, as they would receive the benefits of cold water therapy at a steady water temperature of 15°C degrees or below when set up outside.

We’ve been trying it out in our back garden for a month, and have loved almost daily dips. You can’t quite beat the feeling of a sea swim, but the convenience of having a cold dip opportunity so close to our back door is massive! It means more regular dips and more wellbeing benefits while sitting in the pod surrounded by plants with the ever changing sky above. That calming environment alone can’t not help reduce stress and benefit you in some way.

  • We’ve used it with and without ice, but always with tap water,
  • We change the water every 3 or 4 dips.
  • Before getting in each time the water is topped up to make sure the pod is just over half full.
  • And on every water change the interior gets wiped down and rinsed for a good clean.
  • If there’s a strong wind coming the empty pod is easy and light to lift into an enclosed space.

Recent scientific studies have reported several health benefits from cold water exposure, including boosting the immune system and metabolism, reducing stress, better sleep and faster recovery to name a few.

Dr Susanna Soberg (https://www.soeberginstitute.com/), a leading international scientist and expert in cold and heat therapy, has discovered the minimum threshold - or the “sweet spot” - for cold and heat exposure for health benefits. Her PHD results showed that 11 minutes of cold water therapy and 57 minutes of heat exposure per week can massively optimise and improve health. (full study here)

The Portable Recovery Pod Ice Bath costs from £99 with the Pod and the Lid, or £149 for the new MAX (Much bigger) version with the all weather cover too. Both can be bought on the Lumi Therapy website here https://lumitherapy.co.uk/
