Toome sits at a remarkable meeting point of waterways, marking the moment where the River Bann leaves Lough Neagh and begins its journey north as the Lower Bann. For centuries, this junction has shaped life in the village, influencing trade, industry and daily rhythm in ways still visible today.
Just 27 miles from Belfast, it’s a place many drive through without stopping but it’s well worth the detour. Along the river, Brecart Lodge offers a peaceful, family-run base for slowing down and exploring the Bann.
The lodge offers a private garden cabin with two bedrooms and a hot tub, sleeping up to four people. The main house is also available to hire and includes swings, a hot tub, and a sauna, making it ideal for all ages.
