Take cycling off road and onto the Lagan

Belfast Hydrobikes is a fun one hour cycle away from traffic and onto the Lagan.

Lagan Adventures run hydrobike trips on both the River Lagan in Belfast and as Erne Adventures around the island town of Enniskillen.

On the Lagan, the hydrobike experience is £20 for one hour. You meet at your prebooked time slot beside the Waterfront Hall and after some housekeeping and getting fitted for your life jacket, you hop on and off you go.

From the Waterfront, you cycle upstream on the right hand side of the Lagan towards the Ormeau embankment before crossing over and coming down the other side of the river.

We won’t lie, it’s a workout if you go fast, it’s safe and steady once you get over the initial nerves and wobbling, and you won’t fall in! You can store your belongings in the front storage box but keep your phone handy and take lots of fun photos of your time on the river. We’d recommend getting a strap or something for your phone, you wouldn’t want it falling into the water!

You can take your time, you have an hour to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of a new perspective of the city, or you can let rip and get a good workout.

Tours are available during the day but the nighttime tours are equally as popular. If you’re near the Lagan in the evening look out for the Hydrobikes and their neon green lights.

We love that the Hydrobikes are a great way to sustainably see the city. Did you know Belfast has recently being ranked #8 top sustainable destination in the world!
