Glenapp Castle Adds a Private Garden Retreat

Glenapp Castle Adds a Private Garden Retreat

On Scotland’s southwest coast, Glenapp Castle has introduced a new standalone suite set within its historic walled garden.

Known as The Nest, it offers a more private, self-contained way to stay. Separate from the main castle, the space is designed for guests who want a quieter, slower experience, with more control over how they spend their time.

Space and Simplicity

The suite is arranged as a one-bedroom garden cottage with a separate living area. It works equally well for a couple or a small family, but the focus is on space rather than capacity.

There is a clear shift in how people are choosing to travel. Less structure, more flexibility. The Nest reflects that, offering somewhere to settle in without the need for a set plan.

A Softer Approach to Wellness

Wellness here is built into the setting rather than structured around it.

A private terrace includes a sauna and cold plunge, while inside, simple additions encourage light movement. Treatments are available, but optional.

The overall approach is low key, with an emphasis on ease rather than routine.

Design That Stays Close to Its Surroundings

The interiors take cues from the garden, with soft tones and layered textures creating a calm, comfortable space.

It feels considered without being overly styled, balancing traditional details with modern touches.

Set Within the Estate

The suite sits within the wider Glenapp estate, with access to gardens, coastline, and a range of outdoor activities.

Guests can use the main castle for dining or remain entirely within their own space. Both options feel equally valid.

A Subtle Shift

The Nest doesn’t try to redefine the experience. Instead, it reflects a broader move towards privacy, space, and slower travel.

It’s a simple idea, but one that feels increasingly relevant.

We’ve previously spent time at Glenapp Castle. Our review explores the experience in more detail.

The Nest is set to open on 1 July 2026, with bookings now available. B&B rates will start from £667.25 in low season and £1055 in high season. To book please visit the Glenapp Castle website here https://glenappcastle.com/rooms/garden-cottage-suite/ or call 01465 831212.
