Azamara Plans Fleet-Wide Refurbishment, With a Belfast Connection
Azamara Cruises has announced plans to refurbish its entire fleet later this year, marking a significant design refresh across its four small luxury ships.
For Belfast readers, the news has a familiar connection. Azamara Pursuit underwent refurbishment in Belfast just a few years ago, making the city part of the ship’s recent story. The latest announcement offers a glimpse into how the line plans to build on that work, with interiors moving towards a lighter, more contemporary aesthetic.
The refurbishment will be rolled out across Azamara Onward, Azamara Pursuit, Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, following extensive guest feedback. The focus is on creating calmer, more considered spaces rather than dramatic reinvention.
Public areas are set for thoughtful updates. The Sanctum Spa will be redesigned to feel more serene and restorative, while the Cabaret Lounge will take on a more elegant, atmospheric look. Atlas Bar, a popular feature on newer ships, will be introduced across the full fleet, and Discoveries Restaurant will be refreshed with a more open, modern feel. The Chef’s Table will also be updated, continuing Azamara’s emphasis on intimate, experience-led dining.
Perhaps the most noticeable changes will be in the accommodation. Suites and staterooms are due to be brightened with softer colour palettes, updated furnishings and redesigned bathrooms intended to feel more spacious and relaxed. Azamara Quest will also debut a new Penthouse Deck, adding an additional layer of private space at the top end of the ship.
Taken together, the refurbishment reflects a broader shift in luxury cruising towards quieter design, comfort and longevity rather than excess. For a cruise line with ties to Belfast, it’s a development that feels both relevant and worth watching.
