Review: The Nutcracker

The State Ballet of Georgia’s The Nutcracker is an enchanting blend of world-class artistry and festive magic. From before the curtain rises the spotlight finds its subject and audiences are drawn into Tchaikovsky’s beloved world, with beautifully crafted scenery, staging and dance that brings every moment to life. The enchanting Christmas Eve party and the colourful Land of Sweets leave the audience spellbound as this fantastical tale and Christmas magic fill the stage.

With a touring company of 60 acclaimed dancers, celebrated as one of the world’s leading classical ensembles and directed by Nina Ananiashvili, the performance shines with charm, character, and expressive movement. The playful battle with the mischievous Mouse King delights both children and adults, while iconic moments such as the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Waltz of the Flowers enchant the audience.

By the final curtain, the audience—children included—rose in a well-deserved standing ovation, moved by a truly whimsical and unforgettable festive experience.
