The Grand Opera House was buzzing as Blood Brothers arrived in the city for a two week run. Even though the story is over forty years old, this production proves why it remains a much loved piece of musical theatre.
The show tells the story of twin brothers separated at birth —one raised in wealth, the other in poverty. It’s a tale of friendship, family, and fate that always completely grips the audience from start to finish.
The actors playing Mickey and Eddie perfectly showed the fun of their childhood and the sadness and estrangement of their later years.
You could feel the emotion in the room, with people laughing one moment and wiping away tears the next. The final song, Tell Me It’s Not True, left the crowd silent before bursting into a raucous applause.
Blood Brothersis powerful, heartfelt, deeply moving and a human story we all know elements of so well from our own personal experiences.
A brilliant night at the theatre.
