Men’s health is often talked about in broad terms, but the ways to engage with it are not always as clear.
A new programme at Lough Moss Leisure Centre offers a more practical starting point. An eight week introduction to duathlon, open to men aged 50 and over, focuses on simple movement, routine, and the chance to be part of something shared.
There is no expectation to arrive fit or experienced. Sessions include light cycling and running, guided by coaches, with the option to take things at your own pace each week.
What stands out is the structure. A regular Tuesday morning. A place to go. A reason to get out.
Each session finishes with tea, coffee, and conversation. It is a small detail, but one that matters. Health is not built in isolation, and neither is routine.
Running from early May through to late June, the programme ends with a relaxed mini duathlon. Not a test, just a way to mark the experience.
In a space where men’s wellbeing is often framed around outcomes, this takes a different approach. It offers consistency, connection, and a way to begin.
