Life is complicated. And it’s often impossible to know what brought someone to where they are today.
It’s easy to make assumptions from a distance. Far harder to remember that every person carries a story we may never fully know.
Their appearance, their attitude, their situation. None of these tell us everything about a human being.
We can choose how we speak about people. We can choose whether we add to the harshness of the world or soften it, even briefly.
A little kindness costs nothing.
