Whispers of Linen & Leather: Libraries of Belfast
A new candle fragrance by Belfast Times
In 1888, as the Linenhall Library celebrated 100 years, Belfast Central Library opened nearby on Royal Avenue. Together, these two libraries have quietly watched over the city’s story. When you step inside either one, you notice the familiar smell of old books and polished wood. It’s a reminder of all the readers who have passed through over the years. Their shelves hold not just books, but the story of Belfast; its work, its struggles, its people, and its creativity.
The Linenhall Library, especially, feels like a calm escape from the busy streets outside. Time seems to slow down there. Sunlight comes through tall windows, and the quiet air invites you to linger. One of our favourite spots is the seat by the window overlooking Belfast City Hall. From there, you can watch the city move while sitting in a space that feels peaceful and unchanged; a perfect mix of past and present.
A NEW FRAGRANCE
Linen and leather come together to create a scent that is clean, warm, and comforting. The linen note is fresh and light, like freshly washed fabric drying in cool air, with a soft hint of warmth and soap. It brings a feeling of calm and freshness.
Leather adds depth and richness. It feels smooth and warm, with gentle smoky and woody notes. It suggests age, character, and quiet confidence.
Together, linen and leather create a balanced fragrance; fresh but grounding, soft yet strong. It feels like stepping into a quiet, sunlit room filled with old books, polished wood, and a sense of history in the air.
