Some performances arrive with a sense of occasion. This is one of them.
André Rieu brings his latest tour to the SSE Arena Belfast this week, opening his UK and Ireland run in the city on Thursday 9 April.
Often described as the King of Waltz, Rieu returns with his Johann Strauss Orchestra for a performance built around scale, spectacle and familiarity. His shows move between classical pieces, film scores and musical favourites, anchored by the waltzes that have defined his career.
Over the years, his concerts have become known as much for their atmosphere as their music. Large scale staging, elaborate costumes and a sense of lightness run through the performance, creating something that sits somewhere between concert and event.
With more than 40 million albums sold and audiences that continue to fill arenas worldwide, Rieu’s appeal has remained consistent. His work bridges classical music with a wider audience, making it feel accessible without losing its sense of tradition.
For Belfast, it marks the opening night of the tour and a rare chance to see one of the world’s most recognisable live performers in the city.
An evening shaped by music, movement and a shared sense of celebration.
