Enjoy a Summer of Food Festival Fun including this weekend's Comber Earlies Food Festival!
The long-awaited Taste of Ards and North Down is well underway this summer, showcasing authentic food and drink experiences, hosted by fantastic local producers at unique venues. Make sure to take advantage of this opportunity to indulge in the very best of the Borough’s food and drink.
The return of the much-loved Comber Earlies Food Festival, a free-to-attend event, taking place this Saturday 25 June from 10am to 4pm. Saturday Kitchen regular, Theo Randall, heads the bill at this year’s festival and is accompanied by outstanding local chefs.
Visitors will discover how to best cook the prized potato with cooking demonstrations by local chef Jim Mulholland. Paula McIntyre, author, TV presenter and one of Northern Ireland's leading chefs, is joining the event to show off her culinary talents. Paula has hosted the cooking slot on Radio Ulster's Saturday Magazine programme since 2004 and writes weekly recipe columns for Farming Life and the Belfast Telegraph Weekend magazine.
Take note of the many culinary top tips and soak up the festival atmosphere, by browsing over 40 food stalls, featuring wonderful local produce. Enjoy a thirst-quenching drink at the artisan bar, which will offer the best of local distilleries and breweries.
All this is set against a musical backdrop of brass bands, with entertainment for the kids, not to mention a vintage tractor display to admire.
The Council is committed to sustainability and reducing ftheir carbon footprint, there are free buses to the festival and remember to bring along your reusable bags to pick up goodies at the market.
On Sunday 26 June, 2pm to 4pm, grab your picnic and enjoy an afternoon of picnic fun at Island Hill in Comber. Organised as part of National Picnic Week, this event is free to attend, offering plenty of family fun, from music, face painting and traditional picnic games.
The picnic theme continues with the Taste AND Picnic in the Park, taking place in Ward Park, Bangor on Saturday 2 July 10am to 4pm. This free-to-attend event will boast a glorious artisan food market, combined with live music and kids' entertainment. Definitely a date for the diary.
