Ards and North Down Borough Council has organised a host of guided walks and tours from one end of the peninsula to the other, giving you the opportunity to enjoy some unique days out, breathe in the fresh autumnal air, and maybe even learn something new…

Highlights include;

Welcome Back the Brent Geese

 

Sunday 19 September | 10am – 11.30am

 

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Castle Espie, whilst nature expert, John McCullough from Castle Espie, takes you on a tour. See the stunning Brent Geese both within the collection area, and in their wild setting on Strangford Lough. Hear their unique call and go on a journey with us around the reserve, learn about their grueling 3,000 mile migration journey across the world to the stunning shores of Strangford Lough. Enjoy refreshments in Castle Espies, Kingfisher Kitchen afterwards.

 

Halloween Walking Tours

Prepare to be entertained by spooky costumed characters, bringing to life tall tales and fascinating facts of the past and present, Fancy dress optional - if you dare!

 

Winter Waders and Friends

Join local bird expert, Dot Blakely to enjoy the sights and sounds of some of our overwintering wildfowl and waders that make the stunning Ballymacormick Point their home during this season.

 

New Year’s Day Historic Ards Walk

 

1 January 2022 | 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Start the New Year and shake off the cobwebs from 2021 by exploring the rich and varied history of Newtownards. The tour will take you on a journey through time, visiting the medieval plantation and Georgian periods discovering the many interesting and exciting stories including John de Courcy and Oliver Cromwell. Discover the unique history of Newtownards - one of the oldest settlements in Northern Ireland!
