An A-Z of NI: Mourne Mountains
M just had to be the Mournes, the highest peaks in the north and part of the Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark.
Slieve Donard peak at 852 metres is the highest of 12 peaks packed into a small area of 15x8 miles.
It’s a challenging but stunning walk to the top of Donard, and if the clouds don’t roll in, the views over the countryside are incredible.
National Trust look after 525 hectares of the mountains and have played a roll in maintaining the Mourne Wall and the paths up to the top.
Get outdoors and enjoy your local mountain range and as always, respect the countryside by taking your litter home and leaving no trace. Let’s keep them awesome.
