In December we were invited to try out Panama for a pre Christmas review, it was so good I promised I’d come back in January. You might be aware that it’s also Veganuary and as Panama have an amazing vegan/vegetarian menu, I needed to dive deeper into what they offer all year round.
You might have seen our stories on MoreBelfast instagram, where I raved about the masterclass in service, it turns out that wasn’t put on because I was reviewing, it turns out that it’s their standard service, gold class. It’s AWESOME!
Tucked in behind Grand Central Hotel on McClintock Street, Belfast, Panama is a gem. It might be a bit of a hidden location but it’s building a reputation as a popular lunch spot with a fantastic vegan/vegetarian menu. Actually it’s probably the most impressive vegan menu I’ve seen in the city centre lately.
Here’s what they offer on the vegan menu:
- Huevos Con Chorizo - Toasted Sourdough, Vegan Sausage, Spanish Omlette, Avocado, Pico De Gallo, Salsa
- Chori Pan Argentinian Style Sausage Sandwich - Crusty Roll, Vegan Sausage, Chimichurri with Chilera Pickles
- Cuban Sandwich - Toasted Ciabatta, Vegan Ham, Vegan Bacon, Vegan Cheese, Pickles, Sweet Mustard and Chips
- Panamanian Style Ropa Vieja - Slow cooked mock meat, peppers, warm spices, fresh herbs with black beans & rice
- Taco Salad - Taco seasoned vegan mince, coconut yoghurt, vegan cheese, lettuce, salsa, avocado, coriander, tortillas, lime
A sides selection full of vegan options:
- Vegan Bacon
- Vegan Sausage
- Vegan Spanish Omlette
- Avocado
- Pickles
- Black Bean Rice
- Side salads
- Sourdough
Impressive isn’t it. This is totally somewhere worth visiting if you’re vegan, plant based, curious, reducing your dairy or meat, or just want great food regardless. Go check it out… and maybe I’ll see you there some time, because I’ll most certainly be back soon.
I should add that it’s not just a vegan hotspot, they have a regular menu which is equally impressive.

See you there
