Something special is happening at the Ulster Folk Museum. The museum is being refreshed and renewed so its stories can be enjoyed by future generations.
Thanks to a £50 million investment from Communities NI and The National Lottery Heritage Fund Northern Ireland, new buildings and redesigned spaces will be added to the site. These changes will make it easier and more fun for visitors to explore the collection and discover stories from the past in new and interesting ways.
From the very beginning, the Ulster Folk Museum has been about people and community. It was created to celebrate shared history and the many cultures that have shaped life here, using real buildings, objects, and landscapes to bring those stories to life.
Now, the museum is starting an exciting new chapter. The renewal will improve visitor facilities, open up more of the collection, and create welcoming spaces for everyone. Most of all, it will help people of all ages connect with the stories, traditions, and everyday lives that have helped shape who we are today.
