A new stage show is coming to the Studio at the Waterfront Hall this summer, aiming to offer a regular live performance for both visitors and local audiences.
Celtic Heart is a new production from The Music Yard, created with Belfast writer Colin Urwin. It will run on selected dates between April and September.
Set in early 1900s Belfast, the story centres on family, tradition and a young woman navigating expectations and love, told through a mix of acting, live traditional music and Irish dance.
The narrative is framed through a father reflecting on his life, with memories brought to life on stage through music, dialogue and movement.
We saw the show at its final dress rehearsal ahead of opening, where the different elements were starting to come together on stage.
Live music plays a central role throughout, alongside Irish dancing and moments of Belfast humour. The production brings together a cast of performers from across Northern Ireland, including musicians, actors and dancers.
The show introduces a long running destination style production in Belfast, something more commonly seen in other cities.
Celtic Heart will run from 25 April to 29 September at the Waterfront Hall Studio, with performances scheduled across the spring and summer.
