A sweeping new production, A Bomber’s Moon, arrives at The Sanctuary Theatre in east Belfast from 14 to 19 April 2026, marking 85 years since the Belfast Blitz.
Presented by Bright Umbrella Theatre Company, the play is co written by Trevor Gill and Sam Robinson, with Gill also directing. Set against the devastation of the 1941 air raids, it follows Sadie “Minty” Murray, a spirited 20 year old whose life is reshaped by war, loss and unexpected love.
As bombs fall across the city, Minty’s story unfolds through relationships with airman Frank Warnock and fireman Sean O’Connor, while long held truths about her father begin to surface. What emerges is a powerful, darkly humorous story about resilience, identity and connection in extraordinary times.
Staged in the historic Sanctuary Theatre, once a place of refuge during the Blitz, the production draws on east Belfast’s past to tell a story rooted in place, memory and community.
Performances run from 14 to 19 April. Tickets are available via Bright Umbrella Theatre Company. The show is recommended for audiences aged 16 and over due to mature themes.
