Review: The Rocky Horror Show

Review: The Rocky Horror Show

The Rocky Horror Show is has started its Belfast run to once again thrill you with many fun and naughty moments on stage at the Opera House.

The iconic musical features timeless classics including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the pelvic thrusting show-stopping Time Warp.

Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical celebrates 50 years of fierce fun with this special anniversary production, and we went to check it out.

The crowd in the Opera House were on fire, there were more dressed to kill than at either of the two touring productions we’d been to previously. When there’s a guy in Kylie’s gold hot pants and angel wings in the audience, a lot of fishnets on show and doctors coats, you know it’s going to be a good one.

Our narrator for the night was Reece Budin who was certainly well up for the craic and interaction, his quick fire comebacks ane ad-libbing were just one of the many highlights of the opening night performance.

Stephen Webb was phenomenal as the extra camp Frank N Furter, and Kristian Lavercombe delighted us all as Riff Raff.

The Rocky Horror Show hasn’t dated in its 50 years as a cult classic, and Monday night’s performance brought a new level of sexy, sassy, sensational naughtiness to the Opera House. We were all there to have fun, to join in the singing, shine our lights, do the time warp and enjoy ourselves; and that’s exactly what we did. We’d happily go and see it again this week, and maybe we’d even dress up!

Go and see this cult phenomenon and please please please go extra.

Catch The Rocky Horror Show at the Grand Opera House Belfast until 12 Aug.
