Review: The Addams Family

Review: The Addams Family

The smash-hit musical comedy takes to the Grand Opera House stage this week to reintroduce you to everyone’s favourite kooky family.

The musical comedy is performed by the award-winning St Agnes’ Choral Society and it’s brilliant!

Wednesday, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown up and has a secret that only Gomez knows. She’s fallen in love with a sweet young man from a 'normal’ family, but are they normal? What is normal anyway?

Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Pugsley, Grandma and all the ancestors are on stage with a heart-warming story of love, family and friendship.

This amateur production by St Agnes’ Choral Society is very entertaining and you’ll leave the theatre amazed and impressed. Everyone knocks it out of the park on stage. Uncle Fester was a joy and kept things ticking along as emcee, we all smiled every time Fester was on stage. Gomez and Morticia’s tango was a highlight of the second act.

When Wednesday’s boyfriend’s family arrive for dinner it’s hilarious chaos on stage and his mum Alice is a vision in yellow, and like Fester, she brings something special to this production.

It’s a massive production with big set pieces, great costumes, a live band, a big cast and fantastic vocals. I can’t imagine how much planning, time and rehearsals have gone into creating this great piece of local theatre, but it was worth every effort. You’ll love it!

Catch The Addams Family in the Opera House until Saturday 6th May.
