Review: Legally Blonde

Review: Legally Blonde

The musical theatre production of Legally Blonde by Ulster Operatic Company has arrived at the Grand Opera House, and it’s painting the town pink.

Our central character Elle Woods doesn’t get what she wants, but she ends up getting something even better. She gets a strength of character to realise that she’s worth more than people’s perception of the girl with blonde hair and pink obsession.

The cast includes leads Karen Hawthorne (last seen as Eva Peron in Evita) as Elle Woods, Sean Harkin (last seen in Evita last year) as Emmett Forrest, Jordan Arnold (Q Radio presenter) as Paulette Buonafuonte and Joshua Martin as Warner Huntington III. All superb and accompanied by a wonderful cast full of joy, positivity and enthusiasm.

Have you ever seen a local production of a West End show? These local productions just keep getting better and better, and I’m increasingly enjoying them more than the actual West End versions. There’s a heart and passion up there on stage that can sometimes be lost in the big shows.

I’ve never met any of the performers in this cast and yet I’m so enormously proud of them. Jordan Arnold was phenomenal and her scenes with the equally phenomenal Karen Hawthorne were amongst the best of the night. Also, there are 2 other superstars in this show and if you’ve seen it, you’ll know exactly how pawfect and cute they are.

This musical is so very uplifting, energetic and pink. Omigod you guys you have to see this… Just superb!

Enjoyed the show immensely, your description was perfect, all that energy and professionalism equally as good if not better than a West End show. All main characters also excellent.
