Mudfest 2026: What’s On
Families can look forward to:
- Mud kitchen fun – create muddy masterpieces (don’t taste them!)
- Muddy obstacle course – climb, crawl and creep through the squelch
- Festival crown-making and muddy crafts
- Mud art activities
- Puddle splashing for all ages
- A fun mudslinging contest to scoop, sling and score
“Mudfest is all about giving families permission to get properly stuck in and have fun together outdoors,” said Paul Stewart, Centre Manager at WWT Castle Espie. “It’s messy, playful and a brilliant way for children to connect with nature in a really memorable way.”
Alongside the fun, Mudfest also highlights the important role mud plays in wetland ecosystems, helping visitors learn why wetlands matter for wildlife and the environment.
